Why choose Halberstadt Fencers' Club

Halberstadt Fencers’ Club was founded in 1942 by Hans Halberstadt, an internationally accomplished fencer, Olympian and coach, and continues to be one of the top-ranked clubs in the United States today. HFC fencers and coaches have been medalists in many local, sectional and national competitions, and members of national and Olympic teams.

To excel at fencing requires discipline, balance, concentration, and above all else training. The movement and grace that are associated with fencing can take years to develop. Halberstadt coaches have a wealth of experience and want to help you achieve all of your goals as a fencer, whether you want to compete at the highest levels of this sport or just fence recreationally. Our coaches are all certified by the US Fencing Coaches Association or have comparable coaching credentials. Many of our coaches are certified fencing Masters.

Come explore modern fencing or continue to pursue your passion with the sport!

Children and Adult Classes

We offer childrens programs, adult programs, private instruction and open bouting in foil, sabre, and epee for every level of interest and experience. Our staff is comprised mainly of internationally certified Fencing Masters and coaches in all weapons. Our club is a place where all levels can come together to learn new skills, hone techniques, engage in friendly bouting and train for competition.

Check out our amazing Introduction to Fencing class for Adults

Halberstadt is a leader in classes for adults looking to find out about the Olympic sport and martial art of Fencing. We offer a great introductory class where you will experience all three weapons (foil, epee and saber) so you can find the right one for you.

Fencing is a lifelong sport and community

Fencing is a sport that can span an entire lifetime, and at Halberstadt, we have fencers who started early in their lives and are continuing the sport recreationally well into their 70’s and 80’s. We also have fencers who have never participated in the sport and begin in their 50’s and 60’s only to find that they love it enough to continue. Regardless of your skill level or your goals, we have a program, class, or coach to help you master your weapon and develop the skills to be a successful fencer in a fun and supportive environment.
